<p><strong>Risk statement</strong></p>



<p>The presence of cereulide (toxin) makes this product unsafe to consume.</p>



<p>Cereulide is a toxin produced by some strains of Bacillus cereus. Cereulide is highly heat stable meaning it is unlikely to be deactivated or destroyed by cooking, or when making the infant milk according to NHS guidelines. If consumed it can lead to rapid onset of symptoms.</p>



<p>Symptoms caused by this toxin include nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.</p>

<p><strong>Action taken by the company</strong></p>



<p>Danone is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices displayed at The Food Co and affected products have been removed from sale. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.</p>

<p>The possible presence of cereulide (toxin) makes these products unsafe to consume.</p>



<p>Cereulide is a toxin produced by some strains of Bacillus cereus. Cereulide is highly heat stable meaning it is unlikely to be deactivated or destroyed by cooking, using boiling water or when making the infant milk. If consumed it can lead to rapid onset of symptoms. Symptoms caused by this toxin include nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.</p>



<p>Even if you have not identified ill-health in your baby as a result of consumption of this product, it is essential to stop using it. If the infant formula or follow-on formula was prescribed by a health professional for your infant, consult a pharmacist or other medical professional before changing formula.</p>

<p>The Environmental Agency has been made aware of the production and distribution of counterfeit vodka labeled as Glen’s Vodka. The counterfeit vodka may have a strange smell and taste different from genuine vodka.</p>



<p>Products sampled were found to contain isopropyl alcohol, so they are unsafe. Isopropyl alcohol is an industrial solvent and is not intended for human consumption. Consumption of isopropyl alcohol can quickly lead to alcohol poisoning, and in severe cases, death. Information is provided below to help consumers and businesses identify affected vodka.</p>

<p>Isopropyl alcohol is toxic and not suitable for human consumption. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, intoxication, respiratory depression, and coma. Cardiovascular collapse is also possible. Anyone with symptoms should seek medical attention.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Our advice to consumers</h2>



<p>If you see any Glen’s Vodka that has no laser-etched lot code applied to the bottle between the rear label and the base of the bottle, as indicated in the PDF attachment above, do not buy it. Vodka contaminated with isopropyl alcohol has a strong odor, so if the vodka smells different, do not drink it. Instead, store it in a safe place and report it to the Environmental Agency for further instruction and advice.</p>
